About the project

NOVALY is six chalets at the edge of the forest in Donovaly, Slovakia, 1,100 metres above sea level on the border of the Low Tatras National Park. Each chalet stands on its own plot of 469 to 678 m² along a new access road.

One design on six plots

All the chalets share the same house, drawn in the architect's study of December 2025. It has a built-up area of 140.14 m², three floors and 254.4 m² of floor space. A stone lower floor is set into the slope and carries a timber volume with a gabled roof and a fully glazed gable, behind which the living hall opens up through two floors.

What the house offers

  • Lower ground floor: a hall with its own outside entrance, a ski room, a wellness room with a hot tub and shower, and a Finnish sauna.
  • Ground floor: a living hall with the kitchen, dining area and lounge below the glazed gable (83 m²), and a bedroom with its own bathroom.
  • Upper floor: a master bedroom with a freestanding bath, shower and walk-in wardrobe, two more bedrooms and a bathroom.

That makes four bedrooms, three bathrooms and five WCs. Floor plans with the area of every room are on each chalet's page and download as a PDF.
